NILDA CALLANAUPA

CENTER FOR TRADITIONAL TEXTILES OF CUSCO

To be announced.

The Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco was started in 1996 to explore which Andean weaving traditions remained and to educate people in that culture to value and continue that heritage. The Center not only works to preserve and study Peruvian textiles, the symbolism and their significance, but to assist families in creating a broader market for their textiles, thus an ongoing economy for their communities. Nilda, who will be visiting with several other Quechua speaking weavers, will offer insights and information about their culture. Demonstrations of the traditional arts of drop-spinning and weaving, and the sale of these textiles will take place at the store. Please join us for this unique opportunity.
